Week 3 Response!

This chapter in the book is entitled "French lesson" because Jesse meets a guy by the name of Hong and only them two speak French beside the other people Jesse met while waiting for his flight to Dong Ha. The lesson that Jesse learns from Hong is and everyone else is that the vietnamese look at Americans different and Americans look at Vietnamese people different. "in America they say that you vitenamese do not value life." (pg.83jesse) in vitenam their people don't fear death because they believe life is very value and when it's time to go and it's their time, they accept it nd so Jesse just thinks and accepts the life he live and what he's going through.

Week 2 Response!!!

The metaphor in the beginning of the opening chapter is based of "Time Travel". When Jesse entered the elevator and it started to go up, it reminded him of the Huey helicopter he had ridden in. "..he braced himself by grabbing a handrail as he began to experience the familiar yet still disconcerting sensation..." (vea.pg52)
Time Travel helped Jesse escape from reality and go to a place that he will always be comfortable and free in. Like the seventh floor; it was a world where all types lived and it was different from the real world.

Week 1 Response!!

Jesse was once apart of the Vietnam War and after he finished up with the War he realized that he was there to protect and defend his country. So the analogy that Jesse made was very appropriate because he connected a denfense anttonery and working in the war.

If i had to chose, I would be a defense attorney because no matter what, Im going to try my hardest to defend anything or anyone. Thats kind of the reason why Jesses became a defense attorney, he felt that if he could help defend his country and win then why couldnt he help defend this person and get thm off trial.
